House Roll Call 43

119th Congress · Session 1 · February 24, 2025

A fast-track vote, needing two-thirds to pass

The House sets aside its normal procedure to move quickly: no amendments, little debate, and a two-thirds bar instead of a simple majority. It is used for measures expected to be uncontroversial, so a bill that fails here failed despite broad expectations that it would not.

What was being voted on

119-HR-825 — Assisting Small Businesses Not Fraudsters Act

This bill aims to prohibit individuals who have defrauded the government from receiving Small Business Administration assistance. Under this act, any associate of a small business concern who is finally convicted of crimes involving financial misconduct or false statements regarding specific loans or grants will be ineligible for financial assistance from the Administrator. This prohibition also extends to any small business concern that has such an individual as an associate. The bill specifically excludes financial assistance under section 7(b) from these restrictions.
