What this bill would do

This bill requires the Secretary of Transportation to issue a rule mandating that new passenger motor vehicles include access to AM broadcast stations as standard equipment. Car manufacturers must make AM radio easily accessible to drivers without charging any extra fees beyond the base price of the vehicle. Smaller manufacturers are given more time to comply with this requirement compared to larger ones. During the interim period before the final rule takes effect, vehicles sold without AM radio must include clear warning labels for buyers. Additionally, the bill orders studies on emergency alert systems and includes a sunset clause making the law expire eight years after enactment.
