What this bill would do
This bill is known as the National Law Enforcement Officers Remembrance, Support, and Community Outreach Act. It allows the Secretary of the Interior to award a grant of $6,000,000 per year for six fiscal years to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. These grant funds are to be used solely for operating and enhancing the community outreach, public education, and officer safety and wellness programs of the National Law Enforcement Museum. To receive the grant, the Fund must provide free admission for active and retired law enforcement officers and family members of fallen officers, as well as dedicated free admission hours for the general public at least once a week. The Fund is also required to allow annual federal audits and submit annual reports to specific congressional committees. The text explicitly states that no additional funds are authorized to carry out these requirements beyond available appropriations.
