What this bill would do
The "TRUST in Congress Act" requires Members of Congress, their spouses, and their dependent children to place covered investments into qualified blind trusts. For those currently in office, this must be done within 180 days of the Act's enactment. New Members must complete this process within 90 days of assuming office. The bill also prohibits the dissolution of these trusts or control over the investments until 180 days after a Member leaves office. Additionally, Members must certify the establishment of these trusts to the Clerk of the House or the Secretary of the Senate.
