What this bill would do

This bill is known as the Momnibus Act. It aims to end preventable maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and maternal health disparities in the United States.

The legislation sets up federal task funds, programs, and grants to tackle social determinants of maternal health. It extends WIC eligibility for new moms and provides funding for community-based organizations to advance health equity.

The bill mandates respectful maternity care training, supports maternal health for veterans, and works to grow and diversify the perinatal workforce. It also improves data collection, expands mental health grant programs, and protects incarcerated mothers.

Additionally, the bill integrates telehealth models, responds to public health emergencies, and protects vulnerable mothers and babies against climate change. Finally, it supports research initiatives at the National Institutes of Health and creates a maternal vaccination awareness campaign.
