What this bill would do
The Foreign Robocall Elimination Act directs the FCC to create an interagency taskforce to study and combat unlawful robocalls originating from outside the United States. This taskforce will include various federal agencies and private sector experts to prepare a comprehensive report for Congress. The bill also addresses the implementation of a bond requirement for certain service providers to preserve the integrity of the Robocall Mitigation Database. Additionally, it amends the Pallone-Thune TRACED Act regarding notice provisions and establishes immunity for a registered consortium when sharing or publishing trace back information. Finally, it allows for the publication of lists identifying voice service providers that refuse to participate in trace back efforts or transmit high volumes of unlawful calls.
