What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Military Spouse Hiring Act," seeks to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. It aims to make employers of spouses of military personnel eligible for the work opportunity credit. To do this, it adds "qualified military spouse" as a new category. A qualified military spouse is defined as an individual certified by a designated local agency as a spouse of a member of the Armed Forces. The changes apply to amounts paid or incurred after the bill's enactment for individuals who begin work after that date.
