What this bill would do
The ``MACV-SOG Congressional Gold Medal Act'' aims to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the service members of the Military Assistance Command Vietnam-Studies and Observations Group. This recognition honors their bravery and outstanding service performed in South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia during the Vietnam War. The bill authorizes the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate to arrange the presentation of a single gold medal. Following the presentation, the medal is to be given to the Smithsonian Institution for display and research. The Secretary of the Treasury is responsible for designing and striking the gold medal. Additionally, the Act allows for the striking and sale of bronze duplicates to cover costs.
