What this bill would do
This bill is called the Northern Border Security Enhancement and Review Act. It updates the Northern Border Security Review Act by requiring regular updates to threat analysis and border strategies. Specifically, it requires a northern border threat analysis starting on September 2, 2026, and every two years after that. It also requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to update the northern border strategy within 90 days after each threat analysis or notify congressional committees if no update is needed. Additionally, the Secretary must provide a classified briefing to appropriate congressional committees within 30 days of each threat analysis. Finally, the bill requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop performance measures within six months to assess the effectiveness of Air and Marine Operations at securing the northern border between ports of entry.
