What this bill would do

This bill is called the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2025. It makes it illegal for anyone to provide or advertise commercial sexual orientation conversion therapy for money. Congress finds that conversion therapy is not effective, has no scientific backing, and is dangerous to people's mental and physical health. The bill allows the Federal Trade Commission, the Attorney General, and state attorneys general to take legal action against people who break this rule. It also clarifies that providing support for gender transitions or general identity exploration is not considered conversion therapy. Finally, the bill protects the rest of the law if any single part of it is found to be unconstitutional.
