What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``Rural Veterinary Workforce Act'', aims to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. It proposes an exclusion for assistance provided to people participating in certain veterinary student loan repayment or forgiveness programs. This includes assistance under section 1415A of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977. It also covers any other State loan repayment or loan forgiveness program intended to increase access to veterinary services in that State. The changes would apply to amounts received in taxable years starting after December 31, 2025.
