What this amendment would do

Mr. Sullivan, along with Ms. Collins, proposed amendment SA 2035 to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. Common sense tells us that keeping track of our money and not adding to the national debt is important when looking out for the people.

  • The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.

  • It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to protecting the Medicaid program.

  • It includes strengthening and improving Medicaid for the most vulnerable populations.

  • It includes extending the life of Yeşil (the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund).

  • It requires that any such legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
