What this bill would do
This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the Constitution to limit the number of terms Members of Congress can serve. Under this proposal, individuals would be barred from serving more than three terms in the House of Representatives. For the Senate, the limit would be two terms. The resolution specifies how filling a vacancy counts toward these term limits. Finally, it states that terms beginning before the ratification of this article would not count toward these new limits.
