What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Written Informed Consent Act," directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to update an existing directive. The goal is to expand the scope of the Veterans Health Administration's directive regarding informed consent. Specifically, it targets the expansion of directive 1005, which was originally focused on long-term opioid therapy for pain. The update would require the directive to apply to several other types of medications. These include antipsychotics, stimulants, antidepressants, anxiolytics, and narcotics.
