What this bill would do
The DAIRY PRIDE Act aims to require enforcement against misbranded milk alternatives. It prohibits any food from being sold in interstate commerce using a name for a standardized dairy product if it does not meet specific criteria. To be considered a dairy product, the food must be derived from or contain as a primary ingredient the lacteal secretion from the milking of hooved mammals. The bill amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to establish these definitions. It also requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to issue specific guidance on enforcement. Finally, the Commissioner of Food and Drugs must report on enforcement actions and penalties to Congress.
