What this bill would do
This bill is known as the ARMENIA Security Partnership Act. It requires the Secretary of Defense to regularly check if the Government of Azerbaijan has taken certain actions regarding Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh region. These required steps include withdrawing military forces, releasing prisoners, and stopping hostilities. If the Secretary cannot make this certification, a review of United States security assistance for Armenia must be conducted. A report must then be submitted to the congressional defense committees with recommendations and assessments. Additionally, if the certification cannot be made, the President is blocked from using a specific waiver authority under the FREEDOM Support Act.
