What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Combat Veterans Pre-Enrollment Act of 2025," directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to create a pilot program. The program allows certain members of the Armed Forces to pre-enroll in the annual patient enrollment system used by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This election can occur during the 180-day period before a member separates from active military, naval, air, or space service. The Secretary must establish this mechanism in conjunction with the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security. The pilot program includes specific reporting requirements to congressional committees regarding participation and demographics. The authority for this program is set to terminate three years after the Act is enacted.
