What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "United States Foreign Service Commemorative Coin Act," directs the Secretary of the Treasury to mint several types of coins to honor the Foreign Service of the United States. The coins include $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half-dollar clad coins. These coins are intended to recognize the history and contribution of United States diplomacy. The designs for the coins will be selected through a consultation process involving various advisory groups. All coins are to be issued during a specific one-year period beginning in 2029. Finally, a portion of the sales through surcharges will support the preservation of diplomatic history.
