What this bill would do
The SAVES Act requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a pilot program to award competitive grants to nonprofit organizations. These grants will fund programs that provide service dogs to eligible veterans. To receive a grant, nonprofits must demonstrate experience in training service dogs in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Secretary may also provide veterinary insurance for the service dogs. This pilot program is authorized through fiscal year 2031.
