What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Safer Skies Act of 2025. It directs the Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration to update security screening requirements for certain covered air carrier operations. Within 360 days of the Act being enacted, all covered air carrier operations must be subject to specific federal regulations known as the Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program. The Administrator must also revise any rules, guidance, or policies to comply with these requirements. The bill specifically targets air carrier operations operating under certain parts of the code of federal regulations that conduct common carriage passenger-carrying operations offering individual seats and publicly available schedules on airplanes with more than nine passenger seats that do not use a TSA-managed checkpoint.
