What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Donut Dollies Congressional Gold Medal Act," aims to award a Congressional Gold Medal to members of the Red Cross Supplemental Recreational Activities Overseas (SRAO) program. These women, often called "Donut Dollies," served during the Vietnam conflict. The legislation authorizes the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate to arrange the presentation of the medal. The Secretary of the Treasury is tasked with designing and striking the gold medal. After the award, the medal is to be given to the Smithsonian Institution for display and research.
