What this bill would do
The Saving Our Veterans Lives Act of 2025 directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a program providing firearms storage items to veterans and certain former members of the Armed Forces. This program includes providing "covered items," such as lockboxes, or redeemable vouchers to eligible individuals upon request. The Secretary is also tasked with providing information on the benefits and options for secure firearm storage. Additionally, the Act requires the creation of an informational video on secure storage as a suicide prevention strategy. A public education campaign will also be implemented to inform eligible individuals about the program. The bill authorizes $5,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2026 through 2036 to fund these efforts.
