What this amendment would do
SA 3288, submitted by Mr. Lee and other senators, aims to add a new section (SEC. 515) to the bill. This addition amends Section 710 of title 32, United States Code.
The purpose of this amendment is to define how the National Guard Bureau handles funds received as reimbursement from States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, Guam, or the Virgin Islands for the use of military property.
The amendment specifies that these funds:
-
Must be credited to the appropriation, fund, or account used to incur the obligation, or an available account used for the same purposes.
-
Can only be used by the Department of Defense for functions like repair, maintenance, or other similar tasks directly related to assets used by National Guard units while on State active duty status.
