What this bill would do
The American Enrichment Deployment Act seeks to update licensing procedures for uranium enrichment facilities. It amends the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to allow construction of these facilities to begin before a license is issued. This is intended to enable the timely and safe deployment of such facilities. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission must issue or revise regulations to implement these changes within 180 days of enactment.
