This bill, known as the "Safe Tracks Act," directs the Secretary of Transportation to take specific action regarding train dispatching technology. It requires the Secretary to amend section 236.911 of title 49, Code of Federal Regulations. The goal is to apply the requirements of subpart H of part 236 to both existing and future centralized computer-aided train-dispatching systems. It also applies these requirements to centralized traffic control boards. The amendment must be made within 30 days of the Act's enactment.
