Potential Positive Impacts for People
-
Section 2(a) requires the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to refund all amounts collected as tariffs or duties under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act on or after January 1, 2025, back to the importer of record. This is a positive outcome because it puts money back into the hands of importers who paid those charges.
-
Section 2(b) states that the Commissioner must carry out these refunds without requiring any importer of record to file an application or protest. This is a positive benefit because it saves people time and paperwork, making the refund process automatic using information the government already has.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Based strictly on the provided text, there are no specific sections or provisions identified that create negative consequences or burdens for individuals or groups of people in the United States.
