What this bill would do
This bill is called the Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act. It changes how the single conversion factor under the Medicare physician fee schedule is updated. For the year 2026 and every year after that, the update will equal the Secretary's estimate of the percentage increase in the Medicare economic index. It also removes the rule that created two separate conversion factors after the year 2025.
