What this bill would do
This bill establishes the Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity, and Reliability Trust Fund to provide funding for water and sewer infrastructure. To fund this, it increases the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 24.5 percent. The funds are allocated among various agencies for clean water programs, safe drinking water, household water wells, colonias, Indian health services, and job training. It also mandates a nationwide study on water affordability, discrimination, and service disconnections. Additionally, the act updates various existing water-related grant and loan programs.
