What this bill would do
The Servicewomen and Veterans Menopause Research Act directs the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to evaluate research regarding menopause, perimenopause, or mid-life women's health. This evaluation includes looking at completed and ongoing research, as well as identifying knowledge gaps in treatments and the effects of service on these health stages. The secretaries must also look into the availability of professional training for providers and the uptake of treatments for those in service or veterans. Within 180 days, both secretaries are required to submit a report to Congress containing their findings and recommendations for training. Additionally, they must create a strategic plan to address identified research gaps and future research needs.
