What this bill would do
The Mining Regulatory Clarity Act provides for the location of multiple hardrock mining mill sites. It defines mill sites as public land necessary for waste rock disposal or other operations related to mineral development. Under this act, proprietors can include as many mill site claims as reasonably necessary within an approved plan of operations. Each individual mill site location is limited to a maximum of 5 acres and cannot be patented. Additionally, the act establishes the Abandoned Hardrock Mine Fund in the U.S. Treasury. This fund uses claim maintenance fees from these mill sites to carry out specific infrastructure and job act requirements.
