What this amendment would do
Mr. Reed, along with several other senators, put forward this amendment to deal with the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034. It creates a special reserve fund specifically for reducing homelessness.
The Purpose and Changes
The main goal is to give the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the power to change financial levels and budgets. This lets Congress pass future bills and measures aimed at cutting down homelessness for veterans, families, and everyday people.
To make this happen, the changes can include investments in programs like:
-
The Homeless Assistance Grants program
-
The Housing Choice Voucher program
-
The Department of Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program
-
Other Federal programs
