What this amendment would do

SA 6486, submitted by Mrs. Shaheen and others, aims to add a new section to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the use of any funds from this or any other Act to support a visit by the President of the People's Republic of China to the United States.

This limitation remains in place until two things happen:

  • Congress is formally notified of specific United States sales of defense articles and defense services to Taiwan.
  • A letter of offer and acceptance for those sales is concluded between the United States and Taiwan officials.

The specific sales mentioned are case numbers RSAT 26-AD, RSAT 26-AO, RSAT 26-AQ, and RSAT 26-AN as of January 15, 2026.
