What this amendment would do

This amendment was proposed by Mr. Bennet and several other senators to the concurrent resolution for the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025 and levels through 2034.

The purpose of the amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to Federal land management. It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation related to Federal land management, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal years 2025 through 2034.

What it aims to change or add is the ability to fund actions relating to Federal land management, which may include reinstating the fired Federal employees at specific agencies. These agencies include the Forest Service, National Park Service, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

The reinstated positions can include those responsible for wildfire mitigation, range and timber management, habitat conservation, outdoor recreation, or other uses that generate revenue for the Federal Government.
