What this amendment would do

SA 5154, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a section to title IV of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate against any reconciliation legislation, amendment, or conference report that would increase the deficit by more than $70,000,000,000.

To waive or suspend this point of order, or to sustain an appeal of the Chair's ruling on it, an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate is required.
