What this amendment would do
SA 5133, submitted by Ms. Cortez Masto and other senators, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund focused on providing tax relief for workers. Specifically, this may include increasing the earned income tax credit for childless workers.
To achieve this, the amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise allocations of committees or committees.
- Revise aggregates and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These changes are permitted for legislation relating to worker tax relief, provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
