What this amendment would do
SA 5125, submitted by Ms. Cortez Masto, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund regarding the prohibition of deploying U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers or U.S. Border Patrol agents at election sites and polling places.
Specifically, it allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to Federal law enforcement.
This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
