What this amendment would do

SA 4254, submitted by Ms. Cortez Masto, is an amendment to bill H.R. 7148.

The purpose of this amendment is to prohibit the Department of Homeland Security and its components from using certain funds or fees during civil immigration enforcement activities to do the following:

Detain a citizen of the United States.
Deport a citizen of the United States from the United States.

The restriction applies to funds made available by this division, Public Law 119-21, and fees collected by the Department of Homeland Security.
