What this amendment would do
SA 4218, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to change how funds are used regarding nonresident fees for national park entrances.
The purpose of this amendment is to stop the Secretary of the Interior from using funds to administer the following:
- The nonresident America the Beautiful--the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.
- The $100 nonresident fee for entrance to certain National Park System units that started on January 1, 2026.
This prohibition remains in place until the Secretary of the Interior allows the public to participate in developing and modifying the entrance fee for National Park System units, as required by the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, specifically regarding nonresident passes and fees.
