What this amendment would do

SA 3787, submitted by Mr. Kaine and Mr. Warner, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296 regarding Coastal Storm Risk Management Projects.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Defense to implement projects that:

  • Mitigate hurricane and storm damage risk to help maintain or improve military installation resilience.
  • Prevent or mitigate encroachment that could impact Department of Defense operations.

Additionally, the amendment states that non-Federal interests will pay no more than 10 percent of the costs for the coastal storm risk management features of these projects.
