What this amendment would do

SA 3348, submitted by Ms. Collins, aims to add a Public Shipyard Apprentice Program to bill S. 2296.

The purpose of this amendment is to change the following:

  • Apprentice Induction: It requires the Secretary of the Navy to induct at least 100 apprentices at every Navy shipyard during fiscal year 2026.

  • Budget Reporting: It requires the Secretary of the Navy to include the costs for the fiscal year 2027 apprentice classes in the Department of Defense materials that support the President's budget request to Congress.
