What this amendment would do

SA 3178, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a new section (SEC. 2850) to bill S. 2296.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of the Navy to accelerate the following at Navy installations closed under previous base realignment or closure rounds:

  • Environmental remediation, which includes cleaning up radiologically contaminated sites.
  • Demolition or removal of any building or structure under Navy control, provided they have not been designated as historical.
