S.Amdt. 2921

SA 2921, submitted by Mr. Schatz, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296. The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Defense to provide a report to Congress regarding collaboration with North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies and partners on deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region.

The amendment requires this report to be submitted within 30 days after the Act is enacted and must include:

• A description of efforts with North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies and partners to deter armed attacks against the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Pacific territories of Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

• A description of the capabilities of these allies and partners to engage in deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically assessing available defense assets for deployment and joint defense strategies.

• A description of the Secretary's engagements with these allies and partners to reinforce U.S. policy on the defense of the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Pacific territories of Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
