What this amendment would do

Mr. Padilla submitted amendment SA 2824 to provide specific funding for disaster recovery. Common sense tells us that when disaster strikes, communities need resources to rebuild, and this amendment aims to ensure money goes directly toward that purpose.

What it Changes or Adds

The amendment adds a new section to the end of title III of the bill, labeled SEC. 30005, which is titled APPROPRIATIONS FOR CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES.

It appropriates $400,000,000 to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for fiscal year 2025.
These funds come from amounts in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
The money is designated for the community development block grant program for disaster recovery.
The funds are dedicated to wildfire recovery efforts in Los Angeles, California.
The funds remain available until September 30, 2029.
