What this amendment would do

Mr. Van Hollen, alongside his colleagues, submitted SA 2584 to change what is currently in the bill. As folks we voted for, it is important to know where our tax dollars are going, and this amendment is all about holding the government accountable by funding watchdog work.

What It Changes and Adds

  • Strikes and Replaces: The amendment completely strikes out section 90103 and puts a brand new version in its place.

  • Funding for Investigations: It adds an appropriation of $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2025 specifically for the Government Accountability Office.

  • Timeframe: The money will stay available until September 30, 2029.

  • Use of Funds: This money is meant to be used for investigations of waste, fraud, and abuse, on top of any other amounts that are already available for that purpose.
