What this amendment would do

This amendment, put forward by Ms. Rosen along with Mr. Schatz and Ms. Blunt Rochester, is all about giving folks a break when it comes to the cost of building a house.

What It Changes

Exempts materials: It stops certain duties put in place by Executive Order 14257 from applying to critical homebuilding materials.
Creates a list: It requires the Secretary of Commerce, working with the United States Trade Representative, to make and submit a complete list of these critical building materials to Congress within 60 days after the Act is enacted.
Sets minimum items: The list has to include, at the very least, lumber, aluminum, cement, and copper.
