What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted SA 2220, which is an amendment proposed to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting Tribal citizens from harassment. It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels. This can be done for legislation relating to protecting Tribal citizens from harassment, which may include harassment by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, given the undisputed legal status of Tribal citizens. These adjustments can only happen provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
