What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Padilla, along with Mr. Lujan and Mr. Warnock, submitted amendment SA 2164.
-
The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting the Child Care Development Fund, Head Start, Early Head Start, Indian Head Start, and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programs.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to supporting the administration of the Child Care Development Fund and access to Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
-
Specifically, the changes or additions may include immediately reinstating recently terminated Federal employees, reversing recent regional office closures, and prohibiting funding reductions to those programs, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
