What this amendment would do

This amendment, labeled SA 1900, was submitted by Ms. Hassan along with several other Senators. Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting women's access to abortion.

The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution, and to adjust the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for legislation relating to protecting women's access to abortion, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
