What this amendment would do
This is amendment SA 1872, put forward by Mr. Tillis along with Mr. Daines and Mr. Sullivan.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for an affordable and competitive health insurance market.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to increasing competition and affordability in the health insurance market.
The text states this legislation may include:
-
Prioritizing middle class families over the wealthy
-
Prioritizing American citizens over non-citizens
-
Preventing inflation
-
Bolstering competition
-
Building upon the Trump Administration's program integrity efforts targeting fraud, waste, and abuse in the health insurance marketplace
For these changes to happen, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
