What this amendment would do
MR. PADILLA submitted SA 1812 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to honoring first responders who defended the Capitol on January 6 by condemning the pardon of individuals who were convicted of seditious conspiracy and assault.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This is for legislation relating to honoring the United States Capitol Police, the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, and all first responders who fought to defend the Capitol during the insurrection on January 6, 2021, including those who died following the attack.
- This honoring may include condemning the pardon of violent criminals convicted of seditious conspiracy and assault on law enforcement officers.
- The changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total fiscal years of 2025 through 2029 or 2025 through 2034.
